SEEDS - The title of the film was very important to me. As I remembered my school days how the teachers while scolding us would remind frequently that we are ‘the future seed of Tibet' (Maon-Bhoe-ki-Sontsa). The seed word is drawn from the saying as it defines perfectly the film.
From the very beginning I aimed to have a very good cast to make the film look good as it was very important for me to attract the audience but it was hard to imagine to find the right characters as since it was my very first time to do a film and also the fact that I was in France and looking for actors in India and that too Tibetans.
Hi5 was popular, a social network as Facebook where almost all young Tibetans around the world have their profile in it . I thought it would help me to find my actors. My aim was to go through all the ones whom I found with attractive pictures. Probably the ones who are sure of themselves and daring but then also who are situated in India and that too in Delhi. luckily things turned out differently and each characters came my way as if they were meant to be the one and I still believe that the asset of this film is the handful of cast & crew I got.
Since I do not belong to this field, I did my research largely on Internet and gained a good handful of knowledge from the debut film made by the great acclaimed directors till date. Specially there
interviews and books. Even interacted with few of the Tibetan film makers and it helped me to understand the difficulties they have faced while making there first film.
The whole film is shot with an 8mm camera which I bought in an antique shop and to be honest , I wasn't sure if the camera was still working while shooting the film and I was constantly reminding my cast not to expect so much as I wasn't sure of the result.
There wasn't a real proper script. What I had was a few rough sketches sort of my (story board) and points that I want to discuss on and few sayings in Tibetan urban slang that I am used to.
My whole point of making this film was to use it as platform for young Tibetans to come along and create something together and making an attempt to take one step forward in the field of Tibetan
film entertainment.
